How to Get to Guanajuato

• El Bajío International Airport (BJX) is the preferred way to get to Guanajuato. People also call it the Guanajuato Airport or the Leon Airport, although it is actually located near the town of Silao, about 30 min. away from the workshop hotel. Regardless, the code of the airport is BJX.
  • Please check the many flights arriving into BJX from several major cities such as México City, Dallas, Houston, Tijuana, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, and Oakland. (Spanish table headers in the link mean: Vuelo=flight, Hora=Time, and starts with L=Lunes or Monday.).
  • Taxi cabs from BJX airport to Guanajuato's Downtown are at MXP$390.00 (approximately USD$40.00).
• The International Airport of Mexico City (MEX) receives flights from most major cities around the world. There are two options to get from Mexico City to Guanajuato:
  • Take a connecting flight to BJX
  • A 5-hour bus ride from Mexico City to Guanajuato: Get from the airport to the North Bus Station ("Central de Autobuses del Norte") either through the subway or through a taxi cab. If you choose the subway, take the line 5 (yellow) train at "Terminal Aerea" (from Terminal 1) towards "Politecnico" and get off at "Autobuses del Norte" , the North Bus Station. Several buses go to Guanajuato every 1 or 2 hours for about MXP$300.00. Ask for the direct service ("Servicio Directo") to avoid stops in small towns along the way. Once at the Guanajuato bus station, take a taxi cab to the hotel for about MXP$50.00 (about USD$5.00)
