Directions between the Tribeca Grand (conference hotel), the NYU Dorms, and Pier 81 (Banquet Cruise) are available here (pdf) and will be distributed with the registration materials.

Tribeca Grand - Conference Hotel

A block of hotel rooms at a special rate of $235 a night has been reserved for WAFR 2006 conference attendees at the Tribeca Grand. This special rate is available for the nights of Saturday July 15 through Tuesday July 18 (departing on Wednesday July 19). Additional nights can be reserved at prevailing rates (currently $349/night), subject to availability.

Reservations for the hotel should be made directly with the Tribeca Grand using the contact information below. The WAFR rate will be provided automatically using the on-line reservation link. If you call or email, please mention you are with WAFR to receive the WAFR rate. Reservations should be made by June 15, 2006. Rooms reserved after the June 15 cut-off date or after the reserved block is filled will be at prevailing rates (currently $349/night). IMPORTANT: Since it is after the cut-off date, the WAFR rate is no longer available. If you are still interested in staying at the conference hotel, please send email to wafr-info@wafr.org and we can check with the hotel if they can accommodate additional requests for rooms.

NYU Dorms (for students only)

IMPORTANT: The reserved block of dorm rooms is full. We are trying to arrange for more. If you are interested in one of these if they become available, please send email to wafr-info@wafr.org and we will place you on a waiting list.

We have arranged for some student attendees to stay in the NYU dorms. Our main block has been reserved for arrival on Saturday July 15 and departure on Wednesday July 19; there is limited availability for earlier arrival (Friday July 14) and later departure (Thursday July 20). The cost per night is $45 (double occupancy) and $65 (single occupancy).

WAFR participants will be housed in Hayden Hall, located at 33 Washington Square West, New York, NY 10011. The main phone number for Hayden Hall is 212-995-3070 and the NYU Public Safety Emergency number is 212-998-2222 (an NYU Public Safety Officer is posted in the lobby at all times). The nearest subway stop is West 4th St. & 6th Ave. for the A/C/E, D, F and V trains. Hayden Hall is about 1 mile from the Tribeca Grand (2 6th Ave. at Church St.). This is a 10-ish minute walk straight down 6th Ave. (Avenue of the Americas) or 2 stops on the A/C/E trains (the closest subway stop for the Tribeca Grand is "Canal St").

The accommodations are in unadorned dormitory bedrooms in air-conditioned suites. Each suite typically has two or three bedrooms, each with two or three beds, and a bathroom shared by all occupants of the suite. Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, desk, dresser and closet. There is no kitchen, telephone, television, or computer service in the suites or bedrooms, although there is a common television lounge and there are two computers in the lobby that allow internet access. You will be issued linens (sheet, blanket, pillow, pillow case, and small towel) when you check in, and you should return them to the reception desk when you check out. NYU does not provide toiletries and no cleaning service is provided during your stay; rooms are cleaned prior to your arrival and there is a laundry room in the building that you may use. If you select the single occupancy option, you will not be assigned a roommate in your bedroom. Please note that some suites are configured in such a way that the occupant(s) of one bedroom must pass through another bedroom when entering or leaving the suite.

Reservations for the NYU dorms must be made and paid for as part of the WAFR 2006 registration. The conference will inform NYU about who will be staying there and will pay NYU directly. Reservations for the dorms will be accepted until the block is filled or until June 26, 2006, whichever occurs first. IMPORTANT: The reserved block of dorm rooms is full. We are trying to arrange for more. If you are interested in one of these if they become available, please send email to wafr-info@wafr.org and we will place you on a waiting list.
